The Virginia Department of Social Services encourages every parent and partner to share safe sleep education. Our toolkit includes social media posts, Safe Sleep 365 pledge badges, infographics and more that can be easily shared as we work together to keep infants safe.

Every year, an estimated 3,700 infants die in the United States due to sudden unexpected infant death (SUID), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, the American Academy of Pediatrics reports nearly 1 in 5 sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) occur while an infant is in the care of someone other than a parent or usual caregiver.
